State-Initiated, Federally Funded Special
Education Programs

Finding creative, cost-effective approaches to help students with disabilities is the goal of these special education programs housed at Metro ECSU. Programs provide technical assistance, events for children and families, and cutting-edge staff development. Some of the activities supported by these programs include:

- Network development and staff training
- Technical assistance to educators and caregivers throughout the state
- Training in early intervention strategies for children with disabilities
- Development of promising practices materials
- Conferences for educators

- Statewide census of infants, toddlers, children and youth with Deafblindness
- Strategic Instruction Model (formerly Kansas Learning Strategies)

Metro SPLISE
Is a state-initiated and federally funded Special Education program serving educators and caregivers of students with low incidence disabilities 
Regional CSPD
Is a program that provides professional development and other activities for persons in the metro area, Region 11, who work with learners with disabilities, i.e., 
Regional Low Incidence projects
These projects include the eleven regions of the state.  |
MN Low Incidence Projects
Are designed to assist school districts across the state in fulfilling federal requirements in the areas of implementation of the IDEA, professional development and insuring the availability of high quality staff in the low incidence areas of Special Education (separate web site) 
Region 11 Help Me Grow IEIC Project
The Region 11 Help Me Grow IEIC is responsible for planning and implementing a coordinated and comprehensive system for child find and public awareness. 
Centers of Excellence for Young
Children with Disabilities Project
Early childhood professionals will have the knowledge, skills and supports necessary to be effective in their respective roles  |
Strategic Instruction Model
Offers two kinds of interventions to address the performance gap, the gap between what students are expected to do and what students are able to do. Both kinds of intervention can aid districts as they respond to needs in the area of AYP and RTI
